Billing

Bill the way you sell your work

By the hour, for a fixed fee or by the month, with expenses at cost. Quanta turns it into invoices your clients pay online, and a retainer can charge itself every month.

Four ways to bill, one invoice

Mix them per client and per project. Time, fees, retainer charges and expenses all end up on the same kind of invoice.

  • By the hour

Tracked time becomes invoice lines at each person's rate, or each task's. Group the lines by project, person or task, or list every entry with its own description.

    How invoices are built
  • Fixed fee

Price a project as one fee and bill it all at once or a slice at a time. A budget shows how much of the fee the hours have used, without changing what you invoice.

    Fixed-fee projects
  • By the month

A retainer bills flat charges like hosting and maintenance, a set number of hours, or a budget, every month, quarter or year, or once as a prepaid block. Unused hours can roll over.

  • Expenses at cost

Log software, travel and mileage with receipts. Approved billable expenses land on the invoice as their own lines, or on each retainer invoice.

Retainers that bill and collect themselves

Hosting, maintenance, a block of support hours, the software you pass through: clients still pay to keep you on hand, even when each hour is hard to justify. Put it all on one retainer. The invoice goes out on the 1st, their saved card is charged, and Stripe pays it out to your bank.

Describe the deal once
Flat charges for hosting or a maintenance plan, a set number of support hours, and approved expenses at cost, all on one monthly invoice. Unused hours can roll over, and time beyond them is billed at each person's rate, a flat rate, or not at all.
Paid without a reminder
Your client saves a card once. Each invoice is charged when it is sent: on its own when the amount never changes, or after you review it when hours or expenses change it. A declined card is tried again after 3 and 7 days.
They see what they are paying for
Every retainer invoice shows the hours included that period and the hours used.

Then get paid

An invoice isn't done until the money is in your account and in your books.

  • Paid online

Clients pay from the invoice email or the client portal through Stripe, one invoice or several at once. US and Canadian bank debit are offered when you switch them on in Stripe.
