Quanta Help
Getting Started

Create your workspace

Sign up, walk through the welcome steps and land on the timer.

Applies to:
Workspace owner

A workspace is your company's own space in Quanta: its people, clients, projects, time entries and invoices. Whoever signs up creates the workspace and becomes its first Admin.

Go to the sign-up page at app.quanta.is and either enter an Email and Password, or choose Sign up with Google.

You are signed in as soon as the workspace exists, and the welcome steps open.

Every workspace starts on a free trial. The days left show at the bottom of the sidebar; see Subscription and billing for what happens when it ends.

The welcome steps

Nothing here is mandatory. Every step has a Skip button and everything can be changed later under Administration → Workspace Settings.

  1. Welcome to Quanta! Click Get started, or Skip setup to go straight to the timer. This screen also mentions two things worth knowing about: you can import history from another tracker later under Administration → Import, and integrations (QuickBooks, Xero, the API, Claude) live under Integrations.
  2. Set up your organization. The workspace name (what everyone sees in the workspace switcher and on invoices), the default Currency for rates and invoices, and the Timezone reports and timesheets use.
  3. Select the page appearance mode. System, Light or Dark. This is personal and can be toggled any time from the sidebar.
  4. How do you want to track time?
    • Full time tracking: entries have a start time, an end time and a duration.
    • Duration only: entries only need a date and a duration.
  5. Let's create your first client and project. A client name, optional billing email and payment terms, and a project name, optional code and optional tasks. This creates both in one go. See Set up your first client and project for what each field means.
  6. Just describe your work. An introduction to AI time entry fill. Enable AI turns it on for everyone in the workspace; No thanks leaves it off. You can change this later under Workspace Settings → General → AI features, and each person can turn AI off for themselves in their own settings.

When you finish (or skip), you land on the Timer. The first visit asks how you like to track time, list, week or grid, which you can change any time from the view toggle. See Tracking Time.

Already tracking somewhere else?

Export a CSV from your current tool and bring it in with the import wizard, which maps columns, matches people and skips duplicates. See Importing data.
