Start and end dates

A project can carry a start date and an end date. They are for reference: nobody is ever stopped from tracking time before or after them. The end date also drives a reminder, so a project doesn't run past it unnoticed.

Setting the dates

On the project sheet's Details tab, pick a Start date and an End date. Both are optional, and a project can have just one. Clear removes a date. The end date can't be before the start date.

The dates are calendar days: a project that ends on 30 October ends on 30 October for everyone, wherever they are.

On the Projects list and the project page

When a project's end date is close, a marker appears beside its name on the Projects list and on the project page:

• Ends in 5 days, from the start of the reminder period (14 days before the end date, unless your workspace changed it).
• Ends today, on the day.
• Past end date, once the date has passed and the project is still active.

Deactivated projects never show a marker.

To see every project's dates, turn on the Start date and End date columns from View above the list. They start hidden, and either column can sort the list. On the project page, the dates sit under the project's name.

Reminders

Each project with an end date sends two reminders, each once:

• One when the reminder period starts.
• One the day after the end date, if the project is still active.

They go to the project's Managers (see Project team), or to the workspace's Admins when the project has no Manager. Each person gets an email and a notification in Quanta.

Moving the end date starts over: the new date gets its own reminders. Removing the date, or deactivating the project, stops them.

Changing the reminder period

In Workspace Settings → General, the Project end dates section sets how many days before a project ends the first reminder goes out, from 1 to 90. Untick it to stop the reminders; the markers on the Projects list stay. Click Save Changes.
