Timesheets & Approvals

Optional weekly timesheets that people submit and approvers sign off, locking the week once it is approved.

Applies to:
Everyone

Weekly timesheets add a sign-off step on top of ordinary time tracking. Nothing about how people track changes; at the end of the week they submit it, an approver approves it (or sends it back), and the approved week is locked.

The whole feature is optional. An Admin turns it on under Workspace Settings → TimesheetUse weekly timesheets and approval. Off, the timesheet pages are hidden for everyone.

A week runs from the workspace's first day, Week starts on in the same tab: Monday or Sunday. Changing it applies from the following week; timesheets already created keep the days they were opened with, and logging time to the current week keeps working across the switch.

How the pieces fit

  1. An Admin creates a timesheet group: the people in it, one or two levels of approvers, a minimum hours expectation, and the week it starts. A default group can cover everyone not in another group.
  2. Every member gets a weekly timesheet from the start week onwards. They track as usual.
  3. At week's end they Submit from the timer page or My timesheets. Their entries for that week lock.
  4. Approvers see it under Timesheets → Awaiting my approval, review it, and Approve or Send back. Two-level groups need both sign-offs.
  5. Approved weeks stay locked. Sent-back weeks unlock for the owner to fix and resubmit.

Turning the feature off later returns any week still awaiting approval to its owner, unlocked; approved weeks stay locked and groups are kept, so turning it back on resumes where you left off.
